Having trouble with Lollipop 5.1 or Marshmallow?

Actually, the app works just fine with both versions, the culprit is TWRP 2.8.7.1. Please make sure you use 2.8.7.0 or use ClockworkMod instead of TWRP

I only see a black screen when I open the app.

Some ad blockers seem to be causing problems with the free version of the app. If you are using an ad blocker please make sure you either disable it or allow Volume Boost For Nexus 5™ to display ads.

Does my phone need a "Custom Recovery" ?

YES, you absolutely need to have a "Custom Recovery" like TWRP or CWM to install the ZIP file generated by the app.

This is what allows you to modify the appropriate system files and it is because of this that this application is better than any application currently out there.

Note, you don't absolutely have to install the "Custom Recovery", you can run it once by connecting your phone to the computer and running the following command:  fastboot boot [TWRP image name].img

Does my phone need "Root" ?

No, however it does require a "Custon Recovery" to be installed. See previous question.

What versions of android are supported ?

Marshmallow, Lollipop, 4.4.4, 4.4.3, 4.4.2 currently supported by the app.

I get a geen android on it's back instead of the install screen after I reboot to recovery. What's going on?

This indicates that you have not installed a "Custom Recovery" on your phone. Please refer to question #1.

Will this prevent future OTA updates?

Since the app does modify a system file, it is possible that it may block future OTA updates. This is not really a problem since the app contains the original files which you can reinstall via the "Restore Defaults [Your android version]" button.

What might prevevent OTA updates is ROOT itself or the installation of a custom recovery. There are also ways around that.

  • Root is not needed for the app so if you don't need it for anything else, don't install it.
  • Run TWRP once without installing it. This can be done via your computer with the following command: fastboot boot [TWRP image name].img

This should help avoid any problems with OTA updates.

See this article for more details on what could prevent future OTA updates.

Will this app work on other phones besides the Nexus 5™

Absolutely not. The settings that are being modified are specific to the Nexus 5™. Attempting to run this app on any other phone could end up damaging it.

Is my ROM supported ?

Although we cannot test every custom ROM out there, it seems to work on most ROMs including Cyanogenmod and Paranoid Android.
Please note CM12 doesn't seem to work as Cyanogen seems to have changed the format of the mixer_paths.xml which makes it unreadeable by the app.

Can I go back the the original settings ?

Yes, the app does include the original files for all supported versions. Just click on the "Restore defaults" button for the appropriate version and flash the generated ZIP file.

Where can I get this fantastic app?
